2023 Kelowna Classic Tournament
2023 Kelowna Classic hosted 116 Anglers from across the Okanagan and from Nanaimo. 27 Rainbow Trout were entered and 9 of these were over 25″ with the largest at 31.0″. We had over 75% release rate! 2 Burbot were sent in but no category this year. I’m working on a Burbot category or Jackpot for 2024. Surprisingly only 3 Northern Pike Minnow were entered and the Jackpot was $560 bucks. Decent money for a Pike Minnow! With the “Optional” Jackpots we had about 30% of anglers that entered. This paid off big time for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place with 2 Anglers grabbing some cool cash. 1st and 3rd went to Ronnie “That’s How I Roll” Jourdain scooping a total $5360 bucks. If he had only purchased the entry ticket he would have taken $2500. He netted an extra $2860 with the Jackpots. Ronnie’s Bows measured in at 31.00″ and 27.25″. 2nd place Terry “Mr. Fishinator” took home $2360 bucks. He also purchased the optional Jackpots and this netted him the extra $1360 for 2nd place.
Overall I was happy how the event went except for the Texting Service I purchased. I thought I had done my due diligence going with a service that had the most reviews and most costly. Goggle reviews suck! Anyways this proved to be extremely frustrating. Apparently after you submit a text it goes through a review process that takes up to 25 minutes. To make things worse the service only operates 10am to 5pm EST on weekends. This is why my early morning text scheduled for 6:45am was late and why I couldn’t do anymore updates after 2pm. This is why the updates went silent. My apologies. It will be different and greatly improved for 2024. Thanks for all your understanding!
